:

Heavenly Father help us this day to follow Christ in his comprehensive understanding of human needs and his courageous facing of difficult circumstances..we include in this prayer Marines Thompson Creech, Scheurer, Evans all serving in the War on Terror and in harms way. We ask that your hand of protection and provision be upon each one of them keep them safe, strong courageous, diligent and vigilant.

If any of them do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ we pray that NOW s the acceptable time..TODAY be their day of salvation.

In Jesus Precious Name We Pray,

Do You See Jesus in Your Clouds?
Behold, He is coming with clouds . . . —Revelation 1:7

In the Bible clouds are always associated with God. Clouds are the sorrows, sufferings, or providential circumstances, within or without our personal lives, which actually seem to contradict the sovereignty of God. Yet it is through these very clouds that the Spirit of God is teaching us how to walk by faith. If there were never any clouds in our lives, we would have no faith. "The clouds are the dust of His feet" ( Nahum 1:3 ). They are a sign that God is there. What a revelation it is to know that sorrow, bereavement, and suffering are actually the clouds that come along with God! God cannot come near us without clouds— He does not come in clear-shining brightness.

It is not true to say that God wants to teach us something in our trials. Through every cloud He brings our way, He wants us to unlearn something. His purpose in using the cloud is to simplify our beliefs until our relationship with Him is exactly like that of a child— a relationship simply between God and our own souls, and where other people are but shadows. Until other people become shadows to us, clouds and darkness will be ours every once in a while. Is our relationship with God becoming more simple than it has ever been?

There is a connection between the strange providential circumstances allowed by God and what we know of Him, and we have to learn to interpret the mysteries of life in the light of our knowledge of God. Until we can come face to face with the deepest, darkest fact of life without damaging our view of God's character, we do not yet know Him.

". . . They were fearful as they entered the cloud" (Luke 9:34). Is there anyone except Jesus in your cloud? If so, it will only get darker until you get to the place where there is "no one anymore, but only Jesus . . ." (Mark 9:8 ; also see Mark 2-7 ).

HE IS FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT..CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR THE LAURIE'

Grieving pastor makes unexpected visit to his pulpit
Greg Laurie, days after son's death, speaks at Harvest Christian Fellowship.

RIVERSIDE - Tears and a standing ovation greeted Pastor Greg Laurie, who made an unexpected appearance Sunday at the podium of Harvest Christian Fellowship.

"Please excuse me if I don't look at the faces of those of you crying," said Laurie, his eyes welling with tears. "If I do I'll break down and cry."

Laurie's son Christopher Laurie, 33, was killed in a crash on the 91 Freeway Thursday when the Dodge Magnum he was driving rear-ended a Caltrans truck clearing debris from the car-pool lane.

Laurie was not expected to appear. Pastor Don McClure of Calvary Way Ministries in Newport Beach, a longtime friend of the family, was scheduled to substitute for Laurie.

"I couldn't think of any place I'd rather be then in church this morning with you," Laurie said.

Laurie's family was in the front row as he described the church as part of his extended family and thanked them for their prayers and support.

"Right now I'm not really a pastor, I'm a grieving father," Laurie said in his remarks. "Last Thursday was the most devastating day of my life."

Laurie said he loved his son and that he knew his son loved him. He spoke to the congregation about his son's accomplishments as the head of the church's design department. Much of the artwork around the church, on its Web site and for the upcoming Harvest Festival in August was designed by Christopher, Laurie said.

"He made things look so good they'd come and listen to an old man preach for 40 minutes."

Laurie said his faith was real and was sustaining him during this time of "trials and tribulation."

There was a standing ovation as Laurie stepped away from the podium and was hugged by McClure and many seated in the front row, including his wife Cathe.

McClure delivered a shortened sermon entitled "The Necessity of Trials," citing St. Paul's trials as a missionary as an example.

"It's in these times we grow," McClure said.

McClure told the crowd that he had delivered the news to the pastor and his wife of their son's death, and noted that more than 15,000 blog entries supported the family.

"You realize they're alone, apart from us," said McClure. "But then you realize they're not alone because God is with them."

After the service McClure said their families grew up together and that it was a tough time for his longtime friend, "He's very, very solid, yet the sorrow is as deep as it can be."

Anthony Tapia of Riverside said after the service, "It wasn't what I expected at all, to see him at peace and give us strength."

A CLEAR WORD FROM PASTOR RYAN

But Who do You say that He is?

Buddha never claimed to be God. Moses never claimed to be Jehovah. Mohammed never claimed to be Allah. Yet Jesus Christ claimed to be the true and living God. Buddha simply said, "I am a teacher in search of the truth." Jesus said, "I am the Truth." Confucius said, "I never claimed to be holy." Jesus said, "Who convicts me of sin?" Mohammed said, "Unless God throws his cloak of mercy over me, I have no hope." Jesus said, "Unless you believe in me, you will die in your sins."
Fundamentally, our Lord's message was Himself. He did not come merely to preach a Gospel; He himself is that Gospel. He did not come merely to give bread; He said, "I am the bread." He did not come merely to shed light; He said, "I am the light." He did not come merely to show the door; He said, "I am the door." He did not come merely to name a shepherd; He said, "I am the shepherd." He did not come merely to point the way; He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life."

So, I have one all important question to ask you: Who do you say that Jesus is? It is crucial that we arrive at a correct answer to this, the most important question of all time. In the Scriptures we read of a moment when Jesus poses this question to His disciples:

"When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" So they said, "Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
Fundamentally we have 3 questions that come from this passage:

* Who do others say that Jesus is?
* Who does Jesus say He is?
* Who do you say that He is?

The answer to this last question may be the most important answer that we arrive at in life. What we believe about Jesus will ultimately dictate what we do about Jesus. I encourage you to demonstrate conclusively by your actions and your fruit, that You believe He is the Christ, the Son of the Living God!

UPDATE ON LT MATT THOMPSON

Family and Friends,
I just returned from my first TAD trip with the the HIMARS NETT (High Mobility Artillery Rockets New Equipment Training Team). We went to Huntsville, Al to train the reservists from Kilo 2/14 on the new Rockets that will be replacing their 155 Howitzers. Since this was my first trip with the team I spent most of my time observing and learning exactly how the operations go. Come September the current OIC (Officer-in-Charge) will be rotating out and I will have the helm. Pray that I am a quick learner and thank God for a good team! We will be back in Huntsville once a month until next summer when we should have them spun up and then will only need to go for "Assist Visits." We will also have other obligations and training to conduct and expect to be gone at least once a month.
I got hooked up with another Christian Brother in Huntsville (Mel Mattox) through a mutual friend (Bernard Warrington www.faith2change.com ) and had a great time hanging out and getting to know each other. It is great to be able to get together with fellow believers even when in a different town. God is good and it is nice to have such a great "Band of Brothers." I also had the opportunity to visit a couple different churches (1st Baptist Huntsville, Vineyard Christian Fellowship, The Rock and Victory Pentecostal) and to go witnessing with a fellow Marine at the local mall. We handed out and left some tracts around and visited with one really nice family from the area. I have decided that each time I am sent out on one of these TAD trips that I will make it into a "mini-mission" trip. Each airport is a ministry and each new town a new field. There are two other believers on the team, one is a retired Marine LtCol now working as a contractor and the other is a young Sergeant and a great encouragement.
We spent the last 2 days of the trip conducting a live fire at Fort Campbell, KY/TN where we shot 36 rockets and ended up sleeping in the rain. We shipped everything home to Fort Sill on Tractor Trailers and finished up two days early, so I changed my flight and high tailed it home. In the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, I visited with a Catholic Nurse who ended up passing on a book entitled "PeacePrints" which is the true story of a Catholic Nun in Buffalo, NY who spent her entire life ministering to the homeless and those fresh from prison through a half way house. In 2006 she was killed by one of those that she ministered to. The story is very powerful. When Trish and I were younger we used to persecute the Catholics in our zeal but it is amazing how much love he has given us now for our Catholic brothers and sisters. I made it back to Fort Sill on Saturday night, 2 days early, and scared my poor little wife to death by knocking on the door (lucky she locked the doors or imagine how much of a fright she would have gotten!). Maybe next time I will tell her I am coming home early!
It is so good to be back home. We got to go to Church together as a family and are excited that our friends Ryan and Tina are still faithfully attending and even getting involved. We had today off since we were gone for the past 2+ weeks so I took the family fishing down on the Red River and again here on base. We had a big Gar swim up and take sniff at the girl's bobbers which left them pretty excited but doesn't quite fill the frying pan.
Last note--right before I left for Huntsville (July 10th) we received our newest issue of Pray magazine and one of my articles was finally published. Praise God! I love to write, love to pray, and love to combine the two... I hope that it will help others as it does me to put it on paper.
In Christ,
Matt

UPDATE FROM ARMOR OF LIGHT..Pray for Complete healing

for Natalie

Greetings All,

Just to clarify the outreach is for this Saturday July 26th at Camp Pendleton's O'Neil Lake
(not Sunday).

Our daughter Natalie had a bone aspiration last week we praise God her bone marrow looks ok.
Her bone marrow is showing signs that is is slow to recover from chemotherapy and therefore her
blood counts have been down.

We are waiting for guidance on her final chemo cycle.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and support.

Subject: Thank you and event

Greetings All,

We had a blast the past few days serving our Lord. Last Thursday we served the ACU - 5 Sea Warriors and

families. Those enormous hovercrafts are amazing to watch as they literally fly over the land and sea.

On Saturday we witnessed God touch hundreds of young Marine lives as they made commitments to follow Jesus.

Sunday we ministered to the 4th LAR "Iron Horse Marines." What an honor and privilege it is to watch God's

love touch the hearts and lives of Warriors and their families.

Thank you to all of you who came and helped us serve. Thank you to all of you who faithfully pray for these

outreaches and for the Armor of Light. We desperately request you continue to pray. Pray for the thousands

who have confessed Christ and made commitments to follow Jesus. Pray for the marriages and families.

Many of which are falling apart at an alarming rate. Pray for the servants that we would continue to be united as

the Body of Christ and not leave our First Love as the church in Ephesus did; putting the ministry above the Lord.

We do have another opportunity to serve coming up on Sunday, July 26th. We will be sharing God's love at the

Family Day for the Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 303 or ATLAS. From 10:00am - 2pm. Please arrive between

9:00 - 9:30am.

Directions:

5 South or North; Exit Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, Harbor Dr.; head toward base; At gate show drivers/lic.,

proof of insur., vehicle reg. Tell sentry you are going to the Atlas family day at O'Neill Lake; follow Vandergrift

about 9-10 miles (passed air station and Rattlesnake Canyon), turn LEFT at Santa Margarita Rd (look for signs

O'Neill Lake and Naval Hospital), Turn RIGHT on road just prior to the lake, follow down to putt-putt course

and follow instructions for volunteer parking.

Also, below is an email from 1stSgt Madson thanking us for coming out last Thursday.

Ooh-Rah for Jesus!
